Channel 4 Institution

Channel 4 is a UK public service television broadcaster which began working on November 2, 1982. Although is it commercially self-funded, it is ultimately publicly owned; originally a subsidiary of the Independent Broadcasting Authority, the station owned now and operated by the Channel Four Television Corporation.


The first main programme of the day is News at Noon, which was first introduced in 2003 for the duration of the Iraq war, and due to its instant success, it was kept on in the Channel 4's daytime, this news is presented by Krishnan Guru-Murthy.


Channel 4 News is the news division of Channel 4. It is produced by ITN, and has been in operation since the broadcaster's launch in 1982. It is anchored by Jon Snow and it is on the air Monday to Friday from 19:00-19:55.


Channel 4 News is well regarded as a serious news programme which have recently winning a record five Royal Television Society Television Awards in February 2006. These included TV Journalist of the Year for Jon Snow, Home News Award for the Attorney_General leak and the International News Award for Congo's Tin Soldiers.


It has also won the News Coverage British Academy Television Award in 2004 and the 2004 International Emmy for the best news program produced and aired outside the United States. Jon Snow won the Richard Dimbleby British Academy Television Award in 2005 for outstanding contribution to the world of news and current affairs.


More 4 news is a third programme airs Monday to Friday on sister channel More4. More4 News is anchored by Kylie Morris, and it runs for 30 minutes, aiming to go in-depth into a certain issue.
